About Us

KILELE is a Swahili word for “Peak” and at Kilele each individual goal set is guided towards this goal.

"LELE" (as fondly and easily referred to by children for easy pronunciation)Junior School is a brainchild of Kilele Junior Foundation and its Founding Director, Mr. John L. Keya. ("Teacher Keya")

Director’s Vision and Dream

Our vision has always been  to have our own piece of property and be able to construct a modern school so as to be able to enroll more children as well as cut on rental costs, thereby providing a larger population with quality education at very subsidized fees.

We are pioneering a unique system where we integrate children from very humble backgrounds with those from more privileged ones.

This kind of systems enables the school to charge parents from better backgrounds and give free tuition and meals to those who deserve the same opportunity but lack the finances. The school admits children from all walks of life in Kenya. We have children from Kenya and as far as Southern Sudan.

Kilele Junior School was founded out of the concern that if school drop outs and lack of education persists, there shall be a large segment of children out of school that will be exposed to societal dangers attributed to less privileged areas, for example drug/ child abuse, child trafficking and crime.

In this community there are school aged children not attending school due economic constrains of the family. The income per family in the mentioned areas is a dollar a day. The Kenyan government does not subsidize school fees for Pres-School education. Also malnutrition also ranks as a major barrier to universal primary education and this has long term consequences on the physical and mental capacity to learn.

What makes our school special?

In line with our motto: “Pursue to excel All Round “We aim for excellence in all areas.

Allowing children maximize on their leadership potentiality. We have the head boy and the head girl who are the overall heads to the children. They work hand in hand with the teachers.

Give opportunity to point out observations noted on a weekly basis. During morning assembly, children are given opportunity.

Teach children to be responsible over each other and stay as a family. Teachers being role models also live by example

At class level, we have class prefects who are in charge of class administration

At sport level, there are those who are in charge of different sports disciplines

One on one attention by the teachers when interacting with children

Children have physical education lessons every day where they sing and dance and do ball games.

On Fridays they have the whole afternoon to play ball games, race and do other competitions like sack races; potato races etc. although our play field is small and limited by space.

The school organizes a once a term education excursion. Such trips take them to the National Park, Mamba village (Crocodile Village), Giraffe Center, Paradise lost, National museums Bomas of Kenya and many other scenecal sites within Nairobi

This is so as to make education fun in line with our motto of  moulding an all round child that will fit in a dynamic society.
