Kilele Junior School

Volunteering

VOLUNTEERING AT KILELE JUNIOR SCHOOL

The school has very few teachers for the moment, some of them volunteers themselves, and needs volunteers to support their educational program.

Volunteers should be able to work in Kilele Junior School for at least 1 to 6 months. Some experience in teaching is highly welcomed but not a prerequisite.

Volunteers will be involved in several activities some of which includes: teaching small groups of pupils; supporting leisure activities of the children; supporting the feeding program. Volunteers may have the possibility to bring their own ideas and plays.

Unfortunately, Kilele Junior School is unable to offer volunteers with financial assistance since it's just a growing organization. We do hope those who are coming to volunteer with us will always cater for their food, accommodation and airfares.

However, Kilele Junior School will help connect volunteers with  host families and in this case, the school will ask you to contribute/donate an agreed of money to subsidize for food, water and electricity.

Volunteering at Kilele Junior School is a unique opportunity to get to know African and especially Kenyan culture and traditions and to get further experience in teaching and child care. The children of Kilele Junior School are looking forward to welcoming you!

If you are interested, please contact us via the contact page and we may get back to you very soon with further information.

 Mahlet Mekonnen, Ethiopian

I have always wanted to volunteer in schools and help out children because I strongly believe that we should always find a way to help children as they are the future. And Kilele Junior school is a school trying to help children especially those that face different problems by providing a quality education. One of the things that I found to be very inspiring is the motivation that the school administration has and their incentive to make this school better for the children.

Katia Kovalchuk,Russia

I chose to work for Kilele Junior School because it was promising to be a very challenging but also an extremely rewarding experience. And it came true. I also wanted to learn about Kenyan culture and what can be a better way to do that than direct interaction with the children and teachers every day? What inspires me the most is the vision of a school Kilele can become as a result of our work. It is also the happy and curious eyes of the children when they receive guests like us, especially from abroad.

 Salum Adam,Tanzania,

I decided to work at Kilele Junior School as volunteer because I like to help children socially and to share my experiences and skills. I also like to find the easiest  ways to make children's environment comfortable.

Alain Hakizimana from Rwanda ,

I volunteered to improve children more successfully in school as participants with valid views about  what should  happen  to them during  their  future  lives and  build thinking skills,It was so fulfilling to play with and  have  fun with the kids and at the same time teach them French , Games and Sports . I was fun getting  experience on how to interact with children at a   personal level.
